In the Inn

Work never ends here, and I don’t mind…

Sometimes a break from outside means  being inside working on guest areas or just general cleaning…Washing dishes in hot water warms chilly hands!

Sometimes one of the boarders says, “that is a ton of dishes, I feel bad that you have to wash dishes every day!” Two or three people’s dishes are not a ‘ton.’ I think when I am doing solo projects like dishes. I hop into the way back machine and remember being the next-to-youngest of nine kids and having to do everyone’s dishes every night by the light of a kerosene lamp.

We didn’t have electricity, so we had to heat water on a big old kitchen wood stove and carry the water to the sink and scrub away.

Washing dishes here at the No View warms my hands, but also brings me warm memories…
